updated itinerary

A few things have changed since we did the original planning for the 12 Cities, 1 Year project.  For one, we got a later start than we originally thought we would, leaving Denver on the 3rd day of summer, instead of mid-spring.  Second, we learned we travel slower than we expected; given the number of stops we make, we don’t get as many hours of driving time in per day as you might think.

Some of the cities have changed, too.  We decided Flagstaff would be too snowy for when we’ll be in Arizona, so now we’re going to live in Tucson instead.  And Little Rock got removed, and replaced by St. Louis in a different month.

You can see all the details on the new Itinerary page right here.  Also, that new page has a neato map that shows all 12 cities we plan to visit.  There’s a tooltip for each city that shows the dates we’ll be there.  So go check it out!

Also, if you have suggestions about an individual city, please leave comments on that city’s page.  Click its name in the list in the left hand navigation bar to see what we’re planning to do there, and what other people have suggested already.

  1. Quite amusing that you think Flag would be “too snowy” after living on the Front Range for so long. What makes it thus? (Which is to ask, “Is there anything about the project that needs less snow?”).

    1. Flagstaff averages 100 inches of snow per year. Denver averages 61. But both are too much. Our goal is to spend the summer in the north and the winter in the south. For one, we don’t want to have to deal with carrying around too many cold weather clothes. For another, we want to spend as much time commuting by bus and foot as possible, and both of those are a lot easier without snow.
