Well, I spent Saturday morning clearing stuff out of my studio and getting it ready for sale on eBay. That was to create the room for my PowerMac setup. So, in the afternoon I finally got around to setting the thing up. I upgraded to the latest OS version, configured it all how I think… Continue reading my first Mac, part 2

needed feature for iPod: More Like This
I don’t know why Apple didn’t put this feature in the iPod, but I regularly find myself wanting it. I often listen to my iPod in shuffle mode, which plays a quasi-random selection of the music currently on the iPod. Occasionally, I hear a song I haven’t heard in a while, and I want to… Continue reading needed feature for iPod: More Like This
my first Mac
Well, I bought my first Macintosh computer yesterday. In the end, I decided to not go with the new Intel iMac, but instead I bought a used PowerMac Dual G5 2.0. I wanted a Firewire 800 port, and the configurability and expandability were more appealing to me. I also bought a copy of DVD Studio… Continue reading my first Mac
stock options
Why is it that whenever I work at a company that gives me stock options, the stock price immediately sinks below the strike price of those options? And then when it turns around and heads up, the price has great resistance at exactly my strike price? Murphy’s Law, I guess. I’ve got some options at… Continue reading stock options
two things that are late
Oh, and I was going to mention my disappointment at two facts I learned this weekend. First, the Pappadeaux’s restaurant in Westminster, which was originally scheduled to open in Q1 of 2006, is late. According to the manager of their other store, it’s more likely to open in July or August. Second, I’d heard that… Continue reading two things that are late
lots of stuff this weekend
It’s a glorious Monday morning, and we’ve had a busy weekend. Beth had fight class, of course, Friday night. Then Saturday we got up extra early and drove down to Denver to a particular house across the street from a park where a rare bird had been spotted. Beth was lucky enough to spot this… Continue reading lots of stuff this weekend

I just finished my 2nd week of physical therapy. My leg is getting stronger and more flexible, but the therapist said I’m not ready to give up my one crutch just yet. My leg is too weak to walk normally, and she doesn’t want me having a silly walk since that might screw something else… Continue reading ni
I’m down to one crutch
Went to the knee doctor today. I’m now officially allowed to be “partially weight bearing” meaning I’m down to 1 crutch instead of 2. And I start physical therapy ASAP. The goal is for me to be able to walk without pain within the next 2 to 4 weeks.
Infuriatingly Bad Tax Software and Tech Support
I’ve just had about the worst imaginable experience with TurboTax Online and Intuit’s tech support. They’re both badly broken, and I just wasted an hour of my time getting nowhere. Here’s what I wrote to offer to Intuit as feedback. Unfortunately, their feedback form was apparently designed to only accept a much smaller amount of… Continue reading Infuriatingly Bad Tax Software and Tech Support
Saturday – hurray!
I had a good week. I got to do lots of cool stuff at work, and now it’s the weekend. There’s not much new to report on my knee surgery recovery. I’m still on crutches. Next week I go in for my 2nd followup appointment, and hopefully they’ll say I can start weaning off the… Continue reading Saturday – hurray!
