Christmas creep

You know how it seems like the stores put out their Christmas displays earlier and earlier every year?  Well I was in the local Target today, to find some stuff for my Halloween costume.  Let me say that again for emphasis: I was shopping for a Halloween costume, because it’s October 30. And inside the… Continue reading Christmas creep

new (for me) notebook computer on the way

Those of you who know me know that I think my MacBook Pro is the best computer I’ve ever owned.  It’s turned out to be super versatile, reliable, and easy to use.  And it’s fast enough that I can do video editing (even HD) on it!  So I realized a few months ago that I… Continue reading new (for me) notebook computer on the way

Sprouts? Bleh.

I was so excited when I heard that “Sprouts Farmers Market” was coming to town.  But I went there twice in their first week and now I just think “bleh”. I was really hoping to see lots of local products, when in fact I found none at all. Their vitamins/supplements/toiletries section is tiny – maybe… Continue reading Sprouts? Bleh.

any outstanding green restaurants in Colorado? in Broomfield?

I read this article on the TreeHugger blog this morning: Five Outstanding Green Restaurants : TreeHugger Like it sounds, they review 5 “green” US restaurants.  Sadly, no restaurants from Colorado made their list.  What’s your favorite “green” restaurant using the same criteria as TreeHugger?  They said this: From a pure food standpoint, we looked for… Continue reading any outstanding green restaurants in Colorado? in Broomfield?

bad user interface of the week

This past week, I’ve been making travel arrangements for my wife and I to visit some friends in Tennessee for Thanksgiving.  I cashed in some United Mileage Plus miles in exchange for the plane tickets.  And after submitting my order, here’s the web page they presented me with.  See if you can tell from this… Continue reading bad user interface of the week

cool new TV and a strange coincidence

My awesome new television arrived yesterday.  It’s a Samsung LN46A750 high definition LCD TV.  To go with it, I bought a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Disc Player.  Together, they’re amazing!  The first two discs I bought are “Blade Runner” and “The Fifth Element”.  Last night, I watched parts of “Blade Runner” in 1080/24p and tonight I’m… Continue reading cool new TV and a strange coincidence

Heather Locklear, Botox Poster Girl

From The Smoking Gun: Actress Heather Locklear was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in September 2008 on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. After receiving a call from a motorist who saw the 47-year-old Locklear driving erratically, officers found the TV star parked on the side of a road blocking traffic.… Continue reading Heather Locklear, Botox Poster Girl

Cracovia Polish-American Grill

Today I had lunch at Cracovia Polish-American Grill.  At least I think that’s the name.  I’m still not totally sure what the exact name of this restaurant is.  The menu says “Cracovia – Your Family Restaurant – A Taste of Poland.”  When I arrived, about 12:30, there were three other groups of people there.  Two… Continue reading Cracovia Polish-American Grill

Welcome to Sprouts Farmers Market

I just found out some exciting news!  Broomfield is getting a real natural supermarket.  It’s not Wild Oats / Whole Foods, or even Vitamin Cottage.  It’s Sprouts Farmers Market.  Supposedly they’re opening in October next to Staples near (or in, maybe) the now-defunct Albertson’s on 120th. I’d never heard of Sprouts before, so I had… Continue reading Welcome to Sprouts Farmers Market

Proto’s Pizzeria Napoletana

Broomfield now has our own Protos.  If you’ve never been, Protos is a local chain of pizzerias.  I’ve visited the one on Platte in Denver and the one in Lafayette, and so Beth and I decided to try the new Broomfield location on their opening week. Protos does what they call “Napoletana Style Pizza” which… Continue reading Proto’s Pizzeria Napoletana
